Thank you so much. I'm sorry about your pain and suffering. I haven't been to the Dr. yet but I know what you mean...kinda. It seems like month after month..year after year things only get worse. I'm at the breaking point. I want to know what's wrong..and what can I do to fix it.
I wish you the very best!! Please let me know how things are going.
Sincerely,
Desarae
I was digonsed with endo in 2000.And had a laparoscopy in 2001 due to the exterme pain irregular periods. we have been trying to conceive but no luck yet.And now they tell me I have alot of cyst on my left ovary! It seems like one thing after another. They now want to put on Yazmine but due to all the side effects IM not sure I want to take it.
I wish you the best of luck in all of this.
I think that they wanted to rule out anything stomach related before doing the invasive surgery. The lap is still out patient, but requires more healing time. The upper GI and colonoscopy you usually can return to normal activities the next day. I was going back and forth between the gastro doctor and obgyn because they were "arguing" about what they thought it was... the gastro doctor thought it was endo, the obgyn thought it was intestinal, diet, stomach related... I'm glad I found out!
Sasha,
Congratulations on your second child. How wonderful !! I've noticed along with all of my pain I to cannot lay down flat and to it hurts worse when I walk (especially when i'm on my period). I'm constantly sleeping in the fetal position..I guess it takes the pressure off of my back. When i'm on my period..I can't sleep at all. I think it's great that your endo hasn't come back with a vengeance. I'm so happy it has remained "calm" and I hope and pray it will after your second child is born as well. Thank you for your reply.
Princess,
Yes that helps. EVERY little bit helps..I'm grateful for each and every reply. Since i'm going to the dr. on May 6th i'm trying to get an idea of what to expect. Since i've been trying for about 6 yrs now to have a child i'm wondering if they'll do all of that Upper GI and Colonoscopy thing on me? Is that just something they do..before offering the lap? I hope after coming off of Lupron everything is better now. Thank you again for the reply.
Sincerely,
Desarae
I had symptoms of extreme pain in my stomach, doubled over pain where I couldn't move, constipation and diarrhea at the same time (awful!) sweating, heavy periods which the birth control helped a little bit, but I had terrible cramps. This pain would wake me up in the middle of the night once or twice a month. I didn't know it was related to my period until I went to the gastroentrologist and he told me to keep track of what I was eating and when I had this pain related to my period. I realized it was always when I was having my period... I never knew!! He wanted to rule out anything gastro, so I had an upper GI Track check, tube down my throat to see any irriation in my stomach. I had some redness but nothing major or abnormal. Next I had a colonoscopy and they didn't find anything. My obgyn then told me I had a couple of options. I could either have the surgery, or go on constant birth control to not get periods. Sometimes the pain of the endo is caused by the influctuation of hormones of getting your period, therefore if my pain was a little bit better by skipping my periods, chances are that I could have endometriosis. My other option was surgery. I didn't really want to do the surgery, but it was really the ONLY way they could go in there and see how bad it was, or if I even had it. Since my husband and I wanted to have kids in the future, we wanted to find the answers. In August of last year I had the lap. They found stage 2 endo. but nothing too serious, nothing on my ovaries or fallopian tubes, just around my stomach, bowel, intestines. I went on Lupron for 6 months and just got my period back. HOpe that helps!!!
Des_a_rae,
For me (everyone is different), the endo has subsided since the birth of my dtr. i do "feel it" most but not nearly as painful as before. There have been months where I haven't experienced any symptoms. This was not like me prior to my dtrs birth. I was in agony every month for years. Some months worse than others. I found that high stress months caused me the most grief. The 6 months prior to my first lap were one of the worst times in my life. I was in university and had my 3 year practicum to complete. I couldn't even attend my practicum. I was pretty much bed ridden for those 6 months. I couldn't lay down flat so I slept on the couch. I couldn't get off the couch without assistance or something solid to help get me up. I walked along the walls to the bathroom as it helped as a crutch. Walking around seemed to make it worse. No pain meds worked what so ever. I am currently prego with our second and am hoping that the endo will remain calm.
Sasha,
Thank you for replying and I just want to say "that's great!!". It gives me hope. How was the endometriosis after you had your child? I'm just wondering also if it gradually comes back..as strong? at all?
I had 2 laps. One about 7 years ago and the other in '05. I struggle with endometriosis which is why I needed the laps. With my first lap, It took the docs 6 months before they opted to do it. They wanted to rule out other stuff first. The second lap was booked within a month of having pretty bad pain (beyond pain meds). My second lap was in Nov of '05. Got pregnant with my first in March '06.
Princess,
Ty for the reply. Yes I was wondering about what your symptoms were..what were you experiencing before you had your surgery. How long did you have your symptoms before you had surgery?
Good luck on trying to conceive..I wish you the best.
I had a laparoscopy in August of last year. I was then on Lupron for 6 months, and just got off of it 2 months ago. Not trying to conceive this month, as I got my period back (right away which was really exciting). Will most likely be trying soon though. As far as symptoms are concerned do you mean after the surgery, or why I had the surgery?
