Tramadol (ultram)

has anyone ever been on tramadol for the pain that endometriosis/ovarian cysts can cause?  if so, any thoughts on this?  my doctor just prescribed it because hydrocone and tylenol w/codene doesn't do anything for me.  i also take anaprox during the day for the pain which helps a little.

He did a transvaginal ultrasound.  My cycle was this past week, so i'm hoping it does decrease when i go back.  However, I was bleeding for two weeks and my cycle the past few months seems really off.  I'm on the pill and in the past have been very regular.  Recently, I'm spotting/bleeding a lot in between periods and the pains are getting much worse.  I have had a laporoscopy a few years ago and that helped, and then having a child helped also, but the doctor thinks the endo is growing back (on the ultrasound he showed me a snow fall looking image that he said is a sign the endo is back).  I'm just frustrated because I was out of work for a day or two last month, same thing again this month.  I keep telling myself that there are people out there that have much worse problems then i do, so i should just suck it up, but, i guess it's hard.  I don't want to be in pain and rely on pain meds all the time.

I've had several, some have ruptured and others have resolved themselves without pain.  It's normal for cysts to develop on the ovaries during your cycle, the ones that come and go during a 28 day period are functional cysts and don't cause problems.  Have you had a transvaginal ultrasound or did your gyn just find this during a pelvic exam?  Having a cyst drained surgically is a pretty simple procedure, short recovery...not a lot of pain.  The last one I had was the size of a soft ball and it was inside my ovary, the doc made a window in the ovary and removed the contents of the endometrioma so he was able to keep from removing the ovary itself.

thanks for responding.  can you tell a bit more about your cysts?  i had one rupture a few years ago and last week the doctor found one on my left ovary that is the size of an orange.  i'm confused if the pain i am feeling is from the endo or cyst.  i go back next week to see if it has decreased and if it hasn't, they will surgically remove it.  any thoughts?

I've been taking tramadol for over a year now.  It helps with the pain without having the foggy-headed side effects from narcotics.  I can actually function and get things done with the tramadol.  Don't get me wrong, I still have days where I reach for the vicodin, but not every day like I used to.  As for cyst pain, tramadol doesn't touch it, I do have to take vicodin for that.
