Hi I'm 20 I found out I had endometrosis at age 16 when I first has my laperscopic surgery. I had been on birth control since age 14 for cyst on my overies. Well back in October I just went off of it. Recent my mom had a lady tell her about endovan, its a natural herb supplement to help take away endometreosis. I've been on it 3 months now and seem some better, but still hurt really bad. Should I give it more time to work or do you think I need more surgery?

There are no supplements that get rid of endometriosis the only way to remove it is through excision surgery by an Endo specialist. That is the gold standard in treating Endometriosis. Excision is to cut out the disease and it gets to the root and pulls it out where laser only gets the surface and creates more scar tissue and pain. Endometriosis feeds off Estrogen in fact an endometrial lesion contains Estrogen in it so it has to be removed. It is similar to cancer the way it grows.

My bet is a regular gyno did your surgery and what I can do is guide you to the right direction to find a top endo surgeon, however there are only a handful around the world for 179 million women and those gynos who claim to be endo specialists are most likely not and have the skill or tools to excise the disease laparoscopically

Let me know the city you are in and country and I can guide you in that direction. I can also guide you to some good links, blogs and social networking sites. Let me know if you are interested.

I should say that once you have Endo surgery with a specialist I would still go on the pill continuously. Stop the periods stop the pain etc. I was on Marvelon 21 for 8 yrs and it worked amazingly for me, I would get 3-4 breakthrough bleeds a year and after a while nothing. Some people aren't so lucky but I would say stay away from meds that doctors claim to stop endo from growing because that is a lie and some of the side effects of those drugs are irreversible and cause more damage than good such as Lupron/Zolodex etc
