I think the original poster meant transabdominal pelvic ultrasound, not abdominal ultrasound. Transabdominal pelvic ultrasound evaluates the pelvic organs by placing the probe outside the patient on the skin. On the other hand, transvaginal ultrasound evaluates the pelvic organs by placing the probe inside the patient in the vagina.
It might be best to go to the pregnancy forum to get answers for this or the womens forum.
my wife is 6week preganent and today we had a ultrasound transviginal sonography and the result says
Uterus reveals a single, large, irregular intraterine gestational sac
M.S.D 1.0 cm corresponds to 5 weeks 5 days
yolk sac and fetal pole are not visualized
there is no evidence of subchorionic hematoma
cervical os canal are closed
no adnexal mass lesion is seen
cul-de-sac is unremarkable
WHAT DOES THIS MEANS PLS HELP ME IN THIS
Ticked, thank you very much!
It means that your uterus is is tilted slightly towards the bladder.
The ovaries not being visual and probably atropic means that the ovaries have shrunk or are smaller than normal.
Cul de sac is unremarkable means nothing out of the ordinary is seen.
The average sized uterus is about 3 inches long, 2 inches wide, and 1 inch thick
I am going to tell you right now it sounds like your ovaries are wrapped around your uterus, that is why they cant see them and why your uterus is bigger. That is what happened to me. Its called kissing ovaries which is a sign of a higher grade of endometriosis.
I am surprised that they didnt to a transvaginal ultrasound, did you go in to see your doctor for stomach pain?
Clinical correlation means that after you get your TVUS they will compare it to your US to see the differences.
This just my opinion as I am no doctor just someone who likes to read US reports for stuff like this and someone who suffers with Stage IV endo :)
