endometriomas

Hi I am 35 years old, I had a hysterectomy and right oophorectomy in 2003, I then had my left ovary out in 2007 and was at first put on the hormone patch, I had extensive history of endometriosis and numerous treatments such as Zolodex, continual usage of birth control pills and laproscopic surgeries. I was told by my doctor that after I had my left ovary out I should have no more pain. Well I ended up back in hospital about a week after the surgery to have my left ovary out with severe complications. It is now 2010 I have been on Premarin since 2007. I am still experiencing horrible pain on my left side which prompted me to see the Dr once again. After yet another ultrasound he is saying that it I now have Endometriomas or he called it a " chocolate cyst" They put me on Lupron which is a huge needle and it has not helped at all so far, I am now experiencing even more pain than what I was before. I was told that there is possibly some ovarian tissue left which has caused this, the doctor has said he does not want to perform another surgery on me, so I am at a loss of what to do. The pain itself is unbearable at times what else can I do?

Okay so what I would do first is get a second opinion from a different doctor.  Any doctor that specializes in Endo knows that even if you have an ovary removed the endo will still grow. Even with a hyster the endo can still be there.  You cant magically get rid of this disease and any doctor that claims that you can doesnt know enough about it and I would not feel safe with him operating on me.

The more surgeries you have the more scar tissue is going to build up and the more pain that you will be in.

What birth control pills have you been on?

I'm sorry for what you are going through...I had a chocolate cyst at 18 and lost 1/2 of my right ovary b/c of it. I too have been of several different birth control pills and nothing helps with the pain. How many surgeries have you had? I've had 4 done and I'm still fighting with my GYN b/c I want a partial hysterectomy and she doesn't want to do one. Maybe start logging a pain journal? I started it with this past cycle (I'm now on LoSeasonique). I write it in everyday as to what I'm experiencing with all this...Did your doc say why he doesn't want to remove it? I thought they can get bigger and burst? Maybe I'm wrong idk. Sorry if this doesn't help much but gives you any ideas? Good luck and keep me posted...
