Hi there,
I just had a softball sized chocolate cyst (endometrioma) removed from my ovary on January 27th. It was done by laparoscopy. The surgeon I had is an expert in laparoscopy so it was able to be done that way. The first gynecologist I saw would not do it laparoscopically because it was too large and he was not comfortable. So I found an expert. The surgery went really well. It took about 5 days to feel pretty good but it was much better than having an open surgery and I am so glad to have that big giant thing out of me :)
I am by no means an expert, but found a lot of information on the ovarian cyst website. If you have any questions I might be able to help you. This was all new to me as well. Thinking of you.
Hi. I had a lap done more than three years ago. I had 10 cm chocolate cyst and it was removed together with my right ovary (I also had tumor and endo on other organs).
I stayed 5 days in hospital, but my case had complications and it was pretty serious. After that it took couple of weeks for me to feel better. But, in regular cases it takes 5 to 7 days to recover and to start feeling good.
It's very important to have an expert in the lap area, doctor who knows what he/she is doing and the surgery will go really well and it will be successful!
If you want to talk about something related to this "problem", you know where to find me.
Have a nice day and take care!
