I meant not virtually, try visiting one in the clinic. Always try to get yourself diagnosed and examined early and if you do not have any problem it is always good!
Take care!
Thank You for the good word. I actually looked into the doctors under "Sports Medicine" on this website, but when I went about contacting them, most of them turned out to be knee surgeons and shoulder surgeons specifically, and it would be a waste of our mutual time for me to visit them.
I will keep searching though.
We would suggest you to go to any sports medicine specialist or Orthopaedician and reassess your case in a good faciltiy in New York.
They will not send you to a Psychiatrist.
You can clearly explain that the pain is in the muscle or soft tissue and you want yourself to be examined, diagnosed and treated. You can give a short history of your previous case.
Remember it is your problem and you have to convince the Physician.
Please do not feel burdened that someone may think something, explain it boldly and get yourself treated.
Best of luck and take care!
Thank you for your responses. Alot of doctors don't want to send me for an MRI of this area as it doesn't appear on the sheet of MRI being done at that particular diagnostic test facility. It is very asinine and very frustrating. I am in New York City. If you, or anyone happens to know of a doctor(s) who will take me serious and not just refer me to mental health services, I would really appreciate a private message or a few kind words here. Thanks.
So if your rib X-rays did not show any fracture then your ribs are fine, This is due to soft tissue inflammation, the muscles connecting your ribs, and chest muscles. You have to visit an orthoapedician or a sports mediciine specialist to determine the exact location of the pain and the muscles or tendons invovled. As you pointed out broadly that it may be:
1) Lattismus dorsi
2) Intercostal muscles
3) Serratus anterior
So depending on that you go ahead with therapy, and also go for an MRI if required for proper diagnosis,
As respiration is a continous procedure these muscles are involved in expansion and contraction and so healing is getting hampered and it is taking time. Take care!
Hello Dr. Vinod,
As I say, this pain has been existing since Oct. 08. I had rib series x-rays done. I did 1.5-2 months of Ibuprofen 600 mg three times a day. Then afterwards I did enteric aspirin 325 mg three times a day. None of this worked.
The pain hurts more during deep breaths or when I try to hold my breath.
Check with the help of a chest X-ray if your ribs are intact. If it is only due to the muscles, ligaments and tendons then you have to learn exercises and Physiotherapy to overcome the pain.
Breathing exercises will also help, interminttent anti inflammatory drugs can be consumed. Take care!
