Discomfort in the Back of my Throat

Hi, my name is Nicole and I am a 24 year old female and have been experiencing many negative health complications and am praying that someone, somewhere will be able to help guide me in the right direction to get these issues resolved.

About 4.5 years ago I gained an enormous amount of weight in a very short period of time.  From when I left for my second year of college in late August to November when I visited home for Thanksgiving I gained about 35 pounds!  My mother was frantic and had my glucose levels tested as well as my thyroid and anything else that was recommended by my primary care physician at the time.  Everything came back normal.  During this time period I felt the weight gain and was hitting the gym 3 times a day as well as trying many different diets, nothing shook off the weight.  Something my physician pointed out was that I have always had abnormal bowel movements and what I call chronic stomach aches.  I get the stomach aches about 2-3 times per week and they are VERY SERIOUS.  They begin in my upper ab area and are immediately followed by bowel movement (so immediate that I have had to pull over on the side of the road to squat to avoid going in my pants).  My stool is generally a lighter shade of brown when this happens, is soft and has a lot of mucus in it.  The pain in my stomach lasts for about 15 minutes, sometimes causes me to sweat and gradually moves down to my pelvic area.  What I experience is an internal pain and some cramping on my outer stomach.  The pain immediately goes away when I am done on the toilet.  When it is gone for a few minutes I finish in the bathroom and less than 5 minutes later I am back on the toilet.  This occurs about 2 more times until it goes away entirely.  The doctor analyzed my food intake for a period of 5 days and there was no correlation between my stomach aches and common allergy food intake.  About 2 years after that initial weight gain, I gained 20 more.  At this same time had my first experience with heart burn and it has gradually gotten worse and is something that occurs about every other day now.  I also developed this discomfort in the back of my throat like there was a piece of rice back there.  Some days it's worse than others, but has remained there for the past 2 years.  My physician prescribed me a Proton Pump Inhibitor to take daily and that has not helped one bit.  I've been tested for Celiac Disease, have even been given a Colonoscopy as well as an ultrasound on my stomach and nothing has come back abnormal.  These issues have gotten in the way of me enjoying my life and I am more than ready to get to the bottom of this, even if it means being diagnosed with something severe.  PLEASE HELP ME!

I feel you need professional care, alternative care.  You have been like this too long and have too serious a problem to be able to handle this yourself at the moment.  I know a homeopath in Michigan that would be wonderful for you.  Unfortunately, it would not be a quick fix since you've been like this for a while.  Also, it can become quite an investment but worth it in the long run.  I do feel that it is the best option for you for permanent healing, not just putting a bandaid on it or treating symptoms like traditional care might. Look at alternative care in you area.  Find someone who specializes in restoring balance to the gut. Some homeopaths can do this, some not as well.  You have to look around. There are other modalities you can look into.  One incorporates muscle testing.  This can be used to pin point the cause of your issues.  Search and see what is in your area.  They are out there.  The right practitioner can change your life.

when there is a shortage or complete absence of good bacteria, the bowel can become inflamed and hypersensitive to a number of chemicals that cause bowel irritability, such as histamine, acetylcholine and glutamate (MSG). Carrageenan, a common food additive made from seaweed, is known to produce intense inflammation, even in small doses. You will see it in baked goods, ice cream and breads. It tends to worsen all bowel conditions, including IBS, and in fact it can dramatically stimulate cancer growth. MSG and similar food additives can powerfully stimulate the bowel muscles, resulting in diarrhea and cramping. And sensitivity to MSG is heightened when the bowel is inflamed due to irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis. Special cells in the walls of the intestines (known as mast cells) have been shown to play a major role in intestinal diseases. Glutamate (MSG, etc.) stimulates these cells to release histamine,
intensifying bowel inflammation and damage. You can soothe the irritation and inflammation
by maintaining healthy gut bacteria, avoiding irritating foods, food additives and chemicals and by suppressing histamine release using nutrients like quercetin and vitamin C.
Most sufferers know that certain items irritate the bowel, aggravating their condition — things like high-fat foods, coffee (even decaffeinated), carbonated drinks and alcohol.
Quercetin, curcumin and hesperdin all suppress the mast cells’ histamine release, thereby reducing the symptoms. Curcumin also relaxes bowel muscles and reduces the risk of colon cancer. As for keeping the intestinal bacteria healthy, bacteria-friendly “probiotic” foods and supplements are helpful.
One of the better probiotic formulas I have found is Theralac. It features a unique capsule design, ensuring that a maximum number of the most beneficial organisms are delivered to the colon, where they are needed. Flax fiber is also very effective because it enhances the growth of beneficial bacteria. Peppermint and caraway oils are among other very useful supplements, as they reduce spasms in the intestine and colon. They should be entericcoated, or covered with a material that permits transit through the stomach to the small intestine before the medication is released. Some of these organisms are acid-resistant. Life Extension Corporation has a product called Regimint which is used to treat irritable bowel syndrome. Its combination of peppermint and oregano oil  has shown impressive results. These supplements are taken three times a day.
