On 4/25/19 I had a cataract removed from my right eye with laser. Pre surgery that eye was 20/200. They replaced the lens with a ReStore Multifocal Toric IOL. My eyes saw perfectly within a couple of hours after surgery. On my follow-up visit the next day my right eye was 20/20. I then had the left eye which pre surgery was 20/30 with mild astigmatism. They did the same procedure and the same lens as the right eye. Several hours after surgery I could see nothing but a total blur, like looking through glass with a thick coating of Vaseline. I called the DR. and the Nurse assured me that no two cataract surgeries are alike, and it may take a week or more for some patients to see clearly. By the next morning I could barely make out words on my PC, and everything I look at out of that eye is still blurry. I went for my follow up with the ophthalmologist later that day. The lens is supposedly in the right place, very mild and as she put it normal swelling following cataract surgery and everything "looks good" But my vision in that eye is now 20/40 with severe astigmatism. She is not concerned. But despite the 20/40 reading on the chart (I could make out letters but the all had almost half inch ghosting around every letter) in real life if cover my good eye I can't read nor see distance clearly at all out of the left eye. This morning, the day after my follow-up it is still the same. I cannot believe that miraculously this eye is going to become 20/20 when it is now worse than before the cataract was removed. I go back to see the surgeon for a follow-up on 6/4/19. The ophthalmologist joked that if they eye is still the same at that point "you can ***** to him". Is it really normal that this will all disappear in a week or so? I really doubt it, as I feel like I'm wearing the wrong prescription.
