Hello doctor
I have several questions about neovascularization in wet macular degeneration.

1) Is this something that can be seen by a retina specialist during a dilated exam? Are there key fundus changes that would alert the doctor?
2) Does dry lead to wet or can the disease manifest itself as wet straight off the bat?
3) What is the rate of progression? is it <5 years till significant visual loss is present from the time of onset?
4) Can you have 20/20 vision and still have neovascularization?
5) Can wet AMD occur in people under 40?

Thank you so much

Wow, thank  you so much for your prompt reply!

So WET macular degeneration is NOT something that would be missed by several opthalmologists during a dilated exam?

What about Sorsby's fundus dystrophy?
