PLEASE HELP MY SON..

MY SON WHO IS NOW 1 YEAR OLD WAS BORN WITH BILATERAL CONGENITAL CATARACT THAT WAS DENSE. BOTH EYES HAD THE CATARACTS REMOVED, IMPLANTS WERE INSERTED IN BOTH EYES. SCAR TISSUE FORMED OVER BOTH EYES.. LEFT EYE HAD SCAR TISSUE REMOVED. THEN I WAS TOLD HE DEVELOPED AMBLOYPIA. AT THIS TIME I NOTICED HE COULDENT EVEN SEE LIGHT PERCEPTION. I WAS TOLD 2 HOURS A DAY PATCH WORK SHOULD HELP. 3 WEEKS LATER I WAS GIVEN A PRESCRIPTION FOR GLASSES TO USE WITH PATCH WORK.
I WAS CERTAIN THAT MORE WAS WRONG WITH HIS EYE. I FOUND NONE OF MY QUESTIONS WERE BEING ANSWERED. I GOT A REFERAL TO SEE A DIFFERENT OPTHOLOGIST. ONCE THE FIRST DOCTOR FOUND OUT I WANTED A SECOND OPIONON, ALL OPPOINTMENTS AND NEXT SURGERY WAS CANCELLED. WITH MY SONS BEST INTREAST AT HEART I APOLOGIZED PROFUSLY, ASKING TO KEEP APPOINTMENTS AND I WOULD NO LONGER SEEK A SECOND OPIONON.
AFTER NEXT APPOINTMENT WITH THE ORIGINAL DOCTOR, SHE SUGGESTED I SEE HER COLLEGE AT THE SAME OFFICE. 3 WEEKS LATER, AT THE APPOINTMENT SHE TELLS ME SHE SEES THAT MY SON HAS A PALE OPTIC NERVE, SHE SUGGESTS WE SEE A NEROLOGIST FOR TESTING. SHE ALSO GIVES A VERY DIFFERENT PERSCRIPTION FOR GLASSES.
I STATED IF HIS OPTIC NERVE IS PALE.. AND I KNOW HE CANT SEE ANYTHING, LETS REMOVE THE SCAR TISSUE ON THE RIGHT EYE AND TRY TO KEEP GOOD VISION IN ONE EYE. SHE AGREED.
TODAY I RECIEVED A PHONE CALL FROM THE ORIGINAL DOCTOR...she wants to put my son under with anesthia, to look at the optic nerve, then remove scar tissue in the right eye. her college and herself will be present. then she says she will set a date for 6-7 weeks in time.
IS THIS NOT UNACCEPTABLE? IF IT IS SOMETHING PROGRESSIVE SHOULDENT IT BE URGENT? PLEASE HELP ANY ADVICE IS NEEDED...THANK YOU

I would get a second, very independent opinion, from a senior eye specialist. I don't know how, or if, you can do that with whatever medical setup\nsurance you have, but I woud not be at all happy with the current situation you describe and would be screaming for a professional. Good luck and don't ever give up.

I have other complications (coloboma being one) and my pupils are not centred. Yes it DOES affect vision in various different ways and is NOT purely cosmetic.

in addition to his condition i also noticed in the left eye his pupil changes shape to a oval or lopesided, not in the center, etc. it is not noticable that often. when brought to the doctors attention i was told that is completely cosmetic, that it does not affect his vision is that correct?
