I was officially diagnosed with AIR on 7/30/09. A Dr. at the University of Michigan has done the worlds largest study - 30 people. This is also usually a secondary sympton of people with some type of cancer. Only 9 in the study had no cancer. My visual acuity atayed the same in the left eye this year at my annual exam, but the right had changed and I am losing my peripheral. Light sensitivity is part of my problem, so I do without some light in areas. This is a frustrating disease because it's hard to explain to people because they can't 'see' it. Pun intended. Any comments from anybody would be great as it does often feel like you are the only one with a problem.

I have the same condition as you (although my visual aquity isn't affected, but light perception is fading). I don't know how long I've had it, but I had symptoms early on, about 15 years ago. It's been a lot worse for the last 2 years. It's very individual I guess, and it depends on the antibody count..higher will be more aggressive. How long have you had this, and how did you find out... feel free to message me.
ERG measure the response of the retina. Final outcome and how fast the disease progresses depends on the diagnosis and progression over time.
