Discoloration/redness

Hi

I've been recently having a lot of eye trouble and had a doctors appointment last week that was moved until Monday, so I wanted to see if I could end some of my own speculation here. For several months now, there's been a little yellow dot on the inside corner of each of my eyes which looks a lot like pinguculae. Those are the only parts of my eyes that are yellow, but recently the whites of my eyes exposed to the air have been constantly red and have dulled to a kind of off-white color. For the most part, the part of my eyes under my eyelids have remained white, but I'm still kind of worried. My eyes typically are sensitive, but this has never happened before.

I'm going to get checked out on Monday, but was kind of freaking out, over-thinking about what it could be. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

1. Since so many people have pinguecula it would add a great expense to our already overburdened health care system.
2. Most people want them removed for cosmetic reasons (see #1 again)
3. Some people will scar and the scar will be more noticiable than the pingueculum.
4. Many to most insurance companies, Medicare and Medicaid will not pay leaving the patient holding the bag.

Thanks for your reply. Yes at first my eye surgeon wasnt too keen on removing them but I talk him around as I have  the pinguculae two years now and I really am anxious to get them removed. Do you know why eye surgeons don't like removing them is it cause is a comestic reason. Do you know if the surgery leaves a scar.

Thanks again

DIscuss it with your eye surgeon. I don't think they will be anxious to take off the pinguecula. In your case its likely not sun damage that caused them but contact lens damage.

I have a pinguculae in both eyes. I was having a lot of eye trouble during the summer but I recently discovered that I have dry eye. I am wearing contacts for about 11 years but have stop since my recent eye trouble. My pinguculae are yellow and always inflammed my questions is I am getting Lasek surgery in a couple of months but I always wanted to get my pinguculae removed which surgery should I do first or can they be both done at the same time..

Thanks

My advise. relax its not likely serous. Be sure you see an Eye MD physician ophthalmologist NOT an optometrist.
