Exophoria means the eyes are not perfectly straight and have a tendency to turn out but that the brain keeps under control with the fusion reflex. It is diagnosed by coverying one eye and seeing if the eye that is covered moves out (exophoria), in (esophoria) or stays straight (orthophoria).  Many people have small exophorias and never require any treatment or surgery or glasses. I am one of them. It is not considered a disease.

A very large exophoria (only the doctor that examines can tell you if small medium or large) can deteriorate into being out all the time that is called exotropia, or sometimes intermittent exotropia. Most exophorias do not lead to these big problems.

1. can't tell what her glasses will do. It's like trying to predict how tall she'll grow.

exophoria generally isn't. the differce in the powers is more of a concern. That is about all I can tell you really have to examine child to tell you more. Either discuss this at length and get answers from your present eye doctor or get a second opinion from an eye ophthalmologist Eye MD.
