Eye Question

Im a 21 year old male. For as long as I could remember my eyes have been getting red for no apparent reason. When I go out to the casino...bars/clubs or wherever there is smoke in the air they immediately begin to water and get really red and sloppy looking.

I work on computers and as of late ive been putting in more time. My eyes get extremely irritated by this. My left eye gets bloodshot and begins to close. I have to randomly take 10-15 second breaks and jus close and massage my eyes to relieve the strain.

As far as my vision goes I was supposed to get glasses when I was like 15 but stopped using them after like a week. When I went to go get my license renewal i kept messing up on my eye exam. The lady finally said ill just pass you but go get your eyes checked out. Could this all be related to poor vision?

Thanks for any help.

You need an exam by an Eye MD ophthalmologist. Find one at www.aao.org   Possible causes can be dry eyes, allergy, needing glasses or thyroid eye disease or others.

Hello there. i used to have the same problem with redness. Basically I learned that staring at a computer screen for long periods of time can affect our optic nerve and put strain on your eyes. It's called CVS(Computer Vision Syndrome) and it's very common to cause problems with people who work with computers on a daily basis. There are ways to make sure you don't get this strain.
-every 30 minutes on the computer look away from the screen or run a quick errend.
-have the screen at least 2-3 feet away from you
-rest your eyes for a minute or two not just 15 seconds
-most important try to blink more because you blink 50% less times when looking at a computer screen. Hopes this helps, could be the second hand smoke:P or a mixture of the two
