Distorted vision after macular hole surgery

I had macular hole surgery about 4 weeks ago with vitrectomy and gas bubble. They used a slow dissipating gas that takes 8 weeks to dissipate. I saw the DR. last week with very little vision yet and the bubble at 55%. He said it was too soon for me to see anything, but that the pictures he took show the eye is healing nicely, and he wants to see me again in 3 weeks. However this week I started to get a little of my vision back. However what vision I am getting back so far looks as distorted and wavy as it did prior to surgery. Is this more likely due to the bubble distorting my vision, or more likely in less than a week something went wrong?

Frankly on time will tell. However if there is still a gas bubble in the eye that might cause some problems, most people can see the bubble. However most people after macular hole surgery do not recover full normal vision and have some to a lot of residual distortion.

Thank you. I feel more relaxed knowing this is not uncommon.
Your type of case is very very different for people depending on size, depth of hole, whether membrane on surface and its size and the intrinsic health of macula. your surgeon will be the only one that can give appropriate answers.
