Floaters

I have had floaters for a long time. I am shortsighted (-3.5) and 47years old. Recently experienced an increse in them. The eye doctor checked my eyes and said they were ok. Navigating in the internet later i found a page stating that floaters ara a main symptom of eye cancer. Is this correct? The eye doctor never mentioned this? should i be worried and seek another opinion?

Weird. Floaters are VERY common, especially since you are myopic and middle-age.

That was some of the false information on the internet. Floaters are NOT the most common symptoms of eye cancer. If you saw an Eye MD ophthalmologist then I would accept the doctors assurances unless something changes. If you saw an optometrist then the training and exam given are not adequate. See an Eye MD for an exam. Find one near you at www.aao.org
