It is somewhat normal to have a "scratchy eye" feeling for a couple of days after cataract surgery while the incision is healing. Almost all surgeries are done now without a stitch to close the incision. It is just left to heal. Some lenses may require a larger incision that requires a stitch to close the incision. You could ask the surgeon if one was used.
It is also normal to use antibiotic and steroid drops to prevent infection and promote faster healing of the incision. Some surgeons will also use NSAID drops to reduce any potential pain. It would be worthwhile to call the clinic and ask for an exam to ensure there is no infection and if any adjustment to the eyedrop regime is required. It is very important to stick to your recommended eyedrop schedule unless some adjustment is required.
Full recovery and restoration of stable vision normally takes 5-6 weeks.
There are two separate problems here: 1 the way the eye feels (foreign body sensation FBS) and 2 the vision. #1 Did you have no stitch surgery or were stitches put in. If stitches you may be feeling the stitches, one reason why surgeons stopped using them a long time ago. Dry eyes very common especially in females, Can cause FBS and also blur the vision that clears with blinks. Generally frequent, high quality artificial tears are recommended at least 4-6 time/day FBS due to FB. The surgeon would need to instell a yellow dye and look for scratches, dry spots, and evert the upper lide to see if FB under lid, also check lids to see if lashes are rubbing on eye. This is something that your surgeon should take some time with and try and give you some relief, not a quck in and out exam and turn you over to a technician or optometrists.
