Getting your reading vision back after macular hole surgery

Hi, I'm asking on behalf of my mum who got a macular hole surgery done using the silicone oil method. It's been a week and some days but she can't read yet. I'm wondering how long it takes for that to improve (during her last check up the doctor said she was healing fine)

In most cases of macular hole suregery vision does not return to normal, only better than before surgery. It can take 6-12 months to determine the final visual acuity.
