Going to Have Lasik Touchup

Hi: i have posted here before...just wanted to update...i had the acrysof toric iols implanted a year ago and we did monovision...i am 20/20 in my right dominant eye...the left eye was done to a -2.25 diopters of nearsightedness...

Though i do see in all 3 ranges (distance/mid/close) none are sharp...i found i was never totally able to "filter out" the blur from the nearsighted eye...

My doctor had done a contact lens experiment where he brought me up by -.75 diopters (in other words: -1.50)
and i liked the difference...i then got a pair of prescription glasses made up to -1.50 in the left eye and Plano in the right eye and used them in all kinds of situations for a month...

The results are:  with that change, the blur from the left eye is gone and i can see very sharp at distance (not quite like a 20/20 correction but PRETTY CLOSE!) and super sharp at mid range....

Movies in the theater, TV at home, using my computer...seeing signs outside without blur...driving...all excellent!
only minus is that i would have to hold a book/newspaper about 3 to 4 inches further back to see it, though it's much SHARPER then i see it now...

So distance and mi would be fantastic and i think i'd still be able to mostly get by without readers unless i wanted to do a LOT of reading and to hold the page closer to me by a few inches...

I followed up with my eye surgeon and based on what i told him, he agrees it would probably be a good move for me..we scheduled the lasik touch up for 2 weeks from now...

He will do a wavefront lasik procedure and he is NOT going to charge me a penny (i was shocked) but they like to keep their patients happy!

Does it sound like i am doing the right thing...and making the right move?  While it's true i could wear my glassed to sharpen up those various activities..it seems that this way i would get that extra "sharpening up"/no blur and still minimize my need for eyeglasses...

All input (including the doctors) welcome!

Thanks Dr. Hagan...i guess i was looking for a little "comforting" that i was making the right decision...If it works out as well as it has with my "glasses experiment" i believe i would be thrilled...but of course i do wonder if everything will go well...

My eye surgeon is great and he has done literally thousands of both iol and lasik procedures...and of course i do have a lot of confidence in him...

Also curious if anyone else here on the forum had lasik touchup after iol surgery and how it worked out for them...

I know you would like a figurative pat on the back and some reassurance this is THE thing to do. Life and medicine aren't like that.  If you're unhappy where you are and you understand the risks involved with further surgery then this may be the best thing for you BUT only you can make that decision.
