Will my spontaneous hyphema keep recurring indefinitely?

In my left eye I have had a vitrectomy for a vitreous haemorrhage as a result of a retinal tear followed by a trabeculectomy and cataract surgery. There has also been a bilateral iridotomy for narrow angles and glaucoma
Earlier this year I noticed blurring of the eye on two occasions while overseas. Both times this happened it improved within a day or two. On returning home it happened again and I was diagnosed with a hyphema. Treatment was steroid drops, restricting lifting of heavy things, bending from the waist and avoiding overexertion.
The hyphema has resolved and recurred many times over the last seven months and I am wondering if it will ever completely resolve. There is reluctance on the part of the experts to attempt a laser repair, the thought being that not only could it not work but make the situation worse.

There are no studies to quote you. It is a rare problem with multiple causes. My wife had 2 spontandeous hyphemas for no apparent reason and I treated a many 30 years ago that had one every 6 months or so. It never causes any damage and we never found a cause.  Since you have had multiple surgeries it's probably related to one or several of them. If your surgeons can absolutely see where the blood is coming from a "hot" laser iridiplasty might be considered.
