Retina abnormality

After seeing an Optician for a routine eye exam, I was informed that there was an abnormality in my left eye regarding the retina.  After a lengthy exam and drops to enlarge my pupil, he suggested I see a specialist and gave me a letter for my Doctor marked Urgent.  He said although he could not see a tear or hole, there was an abnormal discolouration at the bottom of the retina (pale and flat).
I have no symptoms of any eye trouble, although I do have floaters.  However some months ago I noticed a small silvery spot in my left eye which has now disappeared.   I am awaiting an appointment which should take about 1 week.  Any help on this would be appreciated.

The possibilities are too extensive to be specific. you'll need to see what the consultant says. Good luck, many of these things are benign and require no treatment.
