What to expect from photocoagulation treatment for retinal tear?

I’m going for treatment in 2 days. I tried to get it done today but I was too anxious and worked up. We got started but couldn’t finish. I found the lights very bright and couldn’t keep my eyes open so the lens kept popping off. Does anyone how I can make myself keep my eyes open?

The doctor might use a speculum to hold the eyes open. The doctor might use an injection of the muscles that close the eyes,  You might be given some sedation or antianxiety medication. If the laser doesn't work the doctor might be able to do a freezing sealing of the hole (cryotherapy).
