Limbal relaxing incision

It has been a little over a year since  cataract surgery on my left eye.  The final result was 20/70 and I found  I have astigmatism in that eye.  I am now wearing a toric contact lens which brings my vision  up to 20/30 in the left eye.  Because it has been a year since my surgery, would it be possible to have limbal relaxing incisions in that eye with better results than I'm now getting?  I have not had the right eye  operated on and I wear a monovision contact in that eye for reading labels, price tags, and some newspaper reading  in very bright light.

I want to thank the doctors and JodieJ for letting me know that the astigmatism is in the left eye and not the right eye as I was told by the doctor I went to for a second opinion.  She was suggesting a toric IOL for the right eye, which would have cost extra.

Yes, you can have a limbal relaxing incision.  However,  LRI vs PRK depends on the spherical equivalent of your refraction.  LRI can only correct the astigmatism and will not correct the spherical equivalent.  The spherical equivalent part can be corrected by a mini RK, but most doctors do not do this procedure.

PRK can set the eye for distance or near and also correct the astigmatism.

Based on everything I have read you can pretty much have them done at any time. Choose a doctor who has done a lot of them (successfully). He or she should be able to tell you whether you are likely to achieve comparable or better vision than what you are getting with the Toric contact.

I wore toric contacts for a year or so and hated them. They were always rotating out of position.

I had LRI's as part of my IOL surgery, and I am very happy with my LRI outcomes. If I had to make the choice again, I would definitely choose LRI over laser again.
