gritty sharp feeling

if someone has a sore on the corner of their mouth, and they spit a little while talking, and it lands in your eye, face, or mouth, could u get an infection that way? what can u do afterwards to prevent it?

should i use certain eye drops or take anti-virals? it was a restaurant server so do i need to be concerned about the food or straws too? i have a low immune system.

also, shortly after that i felt something sharp and gritty in my eye i don't know if it could have been a tiny grit of my nail or something stuck my jacket when i was rubbing it. i flushed it out with water when i got home.
is it ok take my topradex drops (anti-biotic/steroid) considering the spit and also the gritty feeling? thank u.

This is my last comment:
If your eye has minor scratch with minimal pain=artificial tears
If you eye had major pain, more blurred vision that does not clear overnight then you need to see an ophthalmologist

Yes there are antiviral eye drops but they need to be prescribed by an ophthalmologist for specific indications.

oh ok thank you. then which drops are used for scratched eyes?

would the whole eye need to be red if it were scratched?

are there any other symptoms of a scratched eye?

are there any anti-viral eye drops?

Steroids to the eye actually reduce the ability to fight off infections and make certain infections like herpes simplex much worse.

You would need advice from your personal physician about taking the Valtrex oral antiviral.

As I said rinse your face and closed eyes with water; use artificial tears to irrigate the eye.

thank you for your reply. i still feel some gritty sensation, how would i know if my eye was scratched?

i was thinking tobradex to heal in case the grit scratched the eye, and to protect against the other person's spit. would using that be harmful?

what drop would u suggest for those 2 situations?

since i have an auto-immune disorder, would taking valacyclovir help prevent transmission from another person?

I thing its highly unlikely you need be concerned and don't suggest using tobradex.

Just rinse your face with water.  You can also rinse your eye out with artificial tears.
