Macula Bleeding - Questions, please help

Hi

I have had Macular bleeding 2 weeks ago. I am 38 years old, male, highly miopic (-28 aprox), with previous laser surgery to fix small holes in retina, and prevent detachments. I am have been treated for high colesterol for years. I don´t smoke, and am slightly overweight.

After visiting two specialists:

1. One doctor related bleeding possibly to high colesterol. This scared me because it implies that my cardio-vascular health is fastly worsening (I have occasionally erection problems). Is macular bleeding not directly related to the shape of my eye?

2. As usual, the doctor told me not to do any strong exercise, except soft jogging (another doctor did recommend not to jog at all), walking or biking. There doesn´t seem to be coherence on this point.

3. On my question, one doctor also forbid me to have sex. Is simple masturbation (oral sex) and having orgasms bad in this situation? Also, after absorbtion of blood can I resume regular sex or will I always have to be careful? I have a girlfriend and this is really affecting me.

I´m starting to feel desperate as my life is getting more and more restricted (work, sport, diet, sex), and this seems only to be the beginning. Thanks for your help.

Raul

I am sorry to have to tell you I cannot decipher your problem and thus cannot advise you. You might discuss your sexual questions with the MD that did not say to avoid sex.

I don´t know if I can give you the needed info. I hardly can read the doctor´s handwriting, translated from Spanish says:

- Point-shaped Macular Hemorraghe in right eye
- Periferic Snail Track Degeneration
- Laser scars
- area of ischemia

Other information under section BMC (I don´t know what this refers to)
-CSC - 0´4 / 0´5
-PIO 12 / 12
-No important injuries.
-Something about a corneal ring?

Sorry for not having better information.

You will need to provide some more information about the cause of the bleeding as all your questions depend on that. Do you have macular neovascularization, vitreous hemorrhage from a retinal tear, do you have a retinal vein occlusion?
