Glaucoma

I been having problems with my vision recently, I have a history of optic neuritis x 2, new dx of dry eye.  I am trying out a pair of air optix w/ bifocal.  I still feel I can't see very well with 4.50 med.

The doctor mentioned the pressure in my eye was 19 so that was on the high side.  Glaucoma is 21 and over.  Should I be concerned the pressure is so high?   I am only 47, too young for glaucoma.

A pressure over 21 doesn't mean glaucoma and a pressure less than 20 doesn't mean you can't have glaucoma. Like blood pressure and blood sugar the IOP varies from hour to hour.

Use the search feature and archives: there is much written about tests to diagnosis glaucoma. Believe there is an article on my blog also.

Your neurologist is not likely interested in your IOP but definitely interested for the Eye MD to say if there are signs of MS in your eye like optic atrophy, pupil abnormalities, optic nerve pallor, eye muscle problems, color vision defects, etc

Thanks, I did read up a bit n it.  Seems the number really doesn't mean as much as she told me, however I find it odd she mentioned it to me and asked for my neuro's name so she could send him a copy of todays exam.
