Post-Vitrectomy Cataract

I am almost 5 months post-vitrectomy and my vision has been slowly, but steadily improving - until about 2 weeks ago, when my blurriness started to seemingly get worse. During my last follow-up visit 4 weeks ago, the doctor said he saw the onset of a cataract.

Could the blurriness be caused by this developing cataract? Has enough time passed since the vitrectomy for such a significant cataract to form and already start affecting vision?

Yes, a cataract that is growing is high on the list. Call your ophthalmologist and get in for an exam soon. Vitrectomies in an eye with its natural lens almost always causes progressive cataracts.
