Retina surgery several times no success

I have had 5 surgeries in the last 15 months with no success. They were due to an accident I had at home by falling into a table with sharp corners on top. One of the corners hit me between my eyes with my left one being the worst. I filled up with blood immediately. EMS was called and carried to an ER near by. I was referred to my normal eye who in turn referred me to a Retina Surgeon who said there was an internal cause of the bleeding. In the next 15 months I was operated on 5 times for a detached or torn retina. The normal procedures such as  vitrectomy, lazer, scleral buckle, removal of scar tissue. none of this were successful. After the 5 operations the doctor that had performed all these, told me he was done with me he had done all he could do. All of this has worn me out. I am 78 year old male and a little old for it all. I have become deppressed by all of this. The left feel like something is not right and causes pain almost all the time. I have gone to second retina surgeon who has said about the same thing but wants to give it more rest. It has been about 6 months aince the last surgery since the last operation was done by the first one. This has left me in the state of not knowing what to do. I can not do the things I use to do 16 months. What do you recommend?

Go see Dr Steven Charles at the Charles retina institute in Memphis Tennessee (Germantown). If there is anyone who can help it would be him. God bless.

Sorry but I cannot make recommendations. You have a very serious problem, it is unique. It is not possible to generalize about it like we can with cataract surgery. You must get the information from an ophthalmologist that has examined your eye.  REMEMBER YOUR MOST IMPORTANT EYE IS THE ONE THAT STILL SEES WELL.  Live a healthy lifestyle, always be wary of activities that have possibility of eye injury and avoid them. wear eye protection.  Have an annual general eye exam by a general ophthalmologist. And treat any problem with your good eye as an emergency
