Retinal detachment surgery

I had retinal break and detachment which reached the macula a little bit. There was a surgery in left eye to repair it with high and low density silicone on 14th of May, 2012. Doctors planned to remove the silicone on 12 of Sept. 18th of June i had my scheduled post op check up. The doctors said it is very good now and removed it next day. 12th of july i had post op check up again. Somehow my left eye  IOP is high. I dont remember the number. My question is, is it OK to have IOP after removal of silicone. Doctor told me to have IOP reducer drop for 6 months under specialist. Will this IOP go away? After i have had the drop for around more than 2 weeks, it was 22 mm in the left eye.

Second question is what is the appropriate time to have cataract surgery after my surgery?

Third question is my macula damage sees things a little bit out of real shape. If i see straght line, it is a bit curved. Is my macula damage repairable?

It is been almost 3 months after the first surgery and one and half months after second surgery.

Thanks

You will need to ask your surgeon your questions about activities. RD can occur without trauma and without anyone related by blood having one.

It may be 6-12 months before you know how much vision is coming back.

1. Yes high IOP complicates the treatment of RD/vitreous surgery often. There are various causes such as inflammation, blood in the drainage mechanism, or steroid activity.
2. Varies only your surgeon can tell
3. It is likely that the distortion (metamorphopsia) is permanent
