Lattice degeneration

I’m highly myopic(-8.5D) and have been diagnosed with one lattice in my left eye, and two in my right eye about three weeks ago. Since a couple of days, I’ve been noticing slightly increased number of floaters in both eyes, but no flashes or shadow/curtains, I saw about 6/7 floaters per eye. Could that indicate something harmful?Does lattice really progress that fast?

With changes in your eye or vision, you must ask questions like that of your personal ophthalmologist. Yes, lattice can progress

Thank You doctor, I saw my ophthalmologist today, he said there hasn’t been any progress yet fortunately  and recommended prophylactic laser treatment. Can you share your views on prophylactic laser treatment for lattice degeneration for a patient who wishes to undergo LASIK?Should lattice be lasered before?
There are no hard and fast rules with regard to lattice. Depending on how hard the EyeMD looks for it as many as 4-6% of people may have lattice.  Having said that in a pathologically high myope like yourself, if there is any question most ophthalmologists will recommend preventive laser.  There are different types of ophthalmologists.  If yours is a general ophthalmologist, you might consider a consult with an ophthalmologist that specializes in retina and vitreous disease. I have told you about all I can and this discussion thread will need to be closed.  Further information should come from your general ophthalmologist and a retina ophthalmologist.
