Seeing grids with eyes closed

Hi John Hahan, hope you’re still around - I use to post on here years ago when I was dealing with obscure symptoms on my old account, hoping you can help with my concern once again…

I’m 24, for atleast 5 years I’ve noticed upon waking up AND by just leaving my eyes closed (awake) for long enough I can very faintly see grid lines/boxes in my vision? They don’t appear with eyes open unless the entire room is pitch black which I guess is the equivalent of having eyes closed. They don’t persist for very long. I’ve read many similar post and heard they’re hypogenic (sorry for spelling) hallucinations and or closed eye hallucinations?

I googled hallucinations and while it’s very far fetched - dementia runs in my family and I’m aware I’m 24 but out of health anxiety - is what I’m describing have any association with dementia/alzheimers etc?

Thankyou ..

Thank you; not related to dementia etc.

So are they infact normal and stop obsessing over it?
Lots of people post on the same thing. If it were something serious you would be dead, blind or seriously ill now. Unless new symptoms appear and you have had an opthalmologist examine your eyes, move on and learn, with professional help if you need, to deal with your anxiety
