Why do a I have one flash stuck in my eye when I blink.

I get a flash stuck in my eye. It isn't a migraine lights and colors. I get those. This only occurs when I blink and look at something white. And it can last from half an hour to all day. And I don't know what causes it and it comes out of no where. I hate having a flash stuck in my eye.: (

Since its new and its not normal it requires a visit to an Eye MD ophthalmologist. In addition to a regular exam you need a macular OCT test.  One thing that can cause it, even in younger people is central serous maculopathy.  Make the appointment soon.

I have had the problem for 18 years. I went to the university of minnesota. Very recently. Should I go somewhere else and keep trying to figure out what it is?
That is a wholly different set of parameters. If you have had it 18 years, haven't gone blind, have seem many qualified ophthalmologists, neurologists it's not likely something serious or sight threatening.  U of MN is fine school of ophthalmology.
I want to know what it's for sure! It can't be nothing. Every time I blink a big flash. And then slowly goes away normally in half an hour or next day.  Hmmm.
If you have had it 18 years and no one has turned up a cause, move on.  Life and medicine are not certainties. Sometimes you have to settle for 'we don't know what it is but it isn't at all likely serious", that is far better than "we know for certain what this is and it is very serious"
Okay! Thank you so much!!
