Retrobulbar pain

My husband is 34 yrs old, an IT personnel by profession and has to be infront of a laptop from 8.00 am till 6-6.30 pm.  He has no historyand family history of blood pressure or diabetes.  Since last few months he has been having retrobulbar pain on and off, there is no pain in movement, no blurring or loss of vision, on examination there was no abnormality detected.  However, since last 2 days the pain has been very several which was releaved by taking paracetamol and again the examination was normal.  At present the pain is gone but he still has heaviness and a slight burning sensation. We have started using tear naturale by Alcon.  Can anyone give me some idea what he is going through and where showed we go for further consultation.  Thank you

thank you very much for the support.  Today we went to an ENT specialist as a referral by the ophthalmologist.  He said that my husband had DNS more towards the left side, also there was discharge or secretions more on the left side and may be it was casuing ethmoidal sinusitis, as this does give symptoms of retrobulbar pain.  We have  started with the medication and today is first night that my husband is not snoring and having a sound sleep.  Hope we have hit the cause, which will be confirmed on reconsultation after 3 days.

To make a diagnosis you need to examine a patient. Please read the disclaimer for these health forums. We do not treat and we do not diagnose.   MS is not a likely cause.

Perhaps your husband should travel to a doctor. I wish you both luck and health.

thank you, but could you pls suggest the likely diagnosis or a differential.  I was thinking it might be multiple sclerosis.  Actually I am in a place where there is language barrier and cant easily find a good doctor.

If the pain is "severe" and continues then I would keep looking. My suggestion would be to see a neuro-ophthalmologist.
