Sudden onset eye pain and pressure

I am a 25 year old female, and tonight after removing my contact lenses and washing my face, I noticed a dull  pain in my left eye. Earlier in the day I had gotten an eyelash in my eye, but hadn't had any problems for several hours. It is not red or bloodshot in any way and I"m not suffering any vision loss or double vision. It does feel slightly swollen however, when compared with my right eye. It isn't made worse by looking at bright lights, or closing my eyes. The pain has been consistent for the past three hours, and there's a noticeable feeling of pressure. I have had allergy problems lately, but my allergies are only mild, and I"ve never experienced anything like this before. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do? If necessary I'll see an optometrist tomorrow, but an  idea of what I"m looking at would be helpful.

The doctor has read my comment and posted nothing further. He agrees with my comment.

Write back anytime. If you feel you need an answer directly from an MD, you can post a new question, and I will not answer.

If you are still concerned in the morning, go to an MD eye doctor, an ophthalmologist. The MDs check your eyes carefully. Optometrists should really just fill prescriptions
