Synchrony IOL for Cataracts. I have information.

This is not so much a question as it is a comment. I know I have seen a lot of questions from people who are interested in the Synchrony IOL, but there just isn't alot of information out there. I went to Germany the end of April and had the Synchrony VU implanted bilaterally. I am 29 years old, and at the time of surgery had a hypermature cataract in my left eye, and a nearly mature cataract in my right eye. The operation was done with the Catalys femtosecond laser by a famous surgeon in Bochum previously mentioned in these forums. By the way, Dr B D did an absolutely amazing job with me. The man is a miracle worker. If anyone has questions about what it's like or what the experience of doing something that insane was like, I'd be more than willing to tell you as much as I know. I also have video's of the operation although I have been having a hard time uploading them. As a detailed account will absolutly  not fit in this box that med help is providing me with, feel free to message me.

The Synchrony is no longer available, it was discontinued over a year ago to my understanding. It only worked 60% of the time and the chances of hitting the refractive target are very low. My surgery was done by Dr. B. **** at knappschafts krankenhaus in bochum. The symfony is a completely different lens that they are now using, it relies on depth of field instead of accomodation.

They did do a wavefront analysis to check for actual accomodation on me in germany 1 year post op and post yag. They never gave me the results, but I was able to see on the computer that there was at least 1 diopter of actual movement from the plus and minus changes. (Crystalens has not ever had movement objectively verified, synchrony has.)
The person doing the test said its usually more than you can see on the machine because the change in astigmatism and higher order abberations also factors into movement, but they have to do a full analysis and graphing to determine how much exactly. He said the woman he did before me had no actual plus or minus changes visible but her higher order aberration changes showed 1 1/2 diopters. So its likely I have more than 1 diopter, but I cannot say for sure how much. I can see the smallest print on the reading chart 20/16 or J1+ when corrected for plano.

I do have a lot of problems from the surgery. The worst of my issues started after the YAG, which was a year later.  It is unclear which of my problems are caused by the IOL if any,  and how much of them are caused by the fact that I was still in my 20's and my cataracts had advanced well beyond the stage that is safely operable. The problems I do have are technically considered fixable (large refractive errors, capsular debris from the YAG) and are not related to presbyopia, I have no complaints about my near vision or my range of vision.

Anisochick continuing.

I finally (because of a lot of forceful insistence) had a functional MRI (f-MRI) last week. 32 years of experience, my word, and even my young and young adult records weren't enough, Science requires proof. I get that.
I fall between the cracks of what's currently known/accepted. For 9 years I have lived helplessly while lessening accommodation destroys my life. I almost got the crystallens over 3 years ago, but the doctor changed his mind and was going to only give me one.  No help. Later Doctors dissed the Crystallens and said no real accommodation. So if there's any chance the synchrony lens does only 1/2 of what it promises, that would be enough to stabilize me. And that was all I realistically hoped for since I found out late 2011 about any accomodation restoring lens.  After all this precursory info., what  I need to really know is this. What was your doctors name. Doctor B.  Without a name I am helpless to act.  I also would like to know more about how you are doing 2 years post-op. How many diopters of accommodation is the lens giving you. Also I noticed today that the London Eye Hospital is now listing the sychromy Tenis multifocal but not the synchrony accommodating lens as 6-9 months ago. I assume there is a good possibility they are no longer using the lens.  That is the place I assumed I would go.  Why did you not go there?

Please respond asap as travel is now close to impossible as m
