Toric Lens Rotating / Losing Hope

Hello, I am hoping to get some advice on my situation. I am one eye dependant, so I need the vision in my good eye to be as clear/sharp as possible. I wore Acuvue Oasis contacts for years, and they were great. Unfortunately, they have discontinued my prescription for some reason.

I have tried six different trial toric lenses, and all of them rotate (some more than others). If I move the contact just a hair, my vision is sharp and crystal clear. Unfortunately, it quickly rotates and things get blurry again. This has caused me to be depressed, as I am starting to lose hope.

Thank God I can see sharp with my glasses on. Could someone please tell me about hybrid and/or hard gas contact lenses? Could these possibly work for me? I left a message for my eye dr, and told him I would like to try the hybrids first.

The two best contacts so far are CooperVision PWR +075 BC 8.7 DIA 14.5 CYL -2.25 AX 10 and Air Optix +.75 -2.25 AX 20. Any advice or encouragement would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

I no longer wear contacts since having cataract surgery. I did wear J&J Acuvue Oasys for a while and they were OK. I found CooperVision My Day a little better, as well as Alcon Total 1 Not sure how available they are in torics.

In any case, one thing you could try if you have a cooperative optometrist is to get a phoropter test done with the contact in your eye. That should tell you if any adjustment in power or angle would be of benefit to you with that particular contact. Other than that about all you can do is try the different brands to see how each works for you. The BC tends to vary slightly from brand to brand and that may be a factor in how stable the contact is in your eye.

Thank you for the reply. That's a great idea to wear the contact while the doctor looks into my eye. I wonder why this wasn't suggested to me before. Also, I don't mind paying $400-500 + for a hybrid, and $300-500 + for a fitting, as long as it allows me to see clearly.

I no longer fit contact lens so I'm not going to comment on that. You might contact an respected ophthalmologist that specializes in cornea and refractive surgery to learn of your other otpions.

I don't qualify for Lasik, and don't want to have surgery because its too risky (one eye dependant). Anyway, thank you for your reply.
Best of luck
