I've posted a few questions on macular puckers, but I am still confused on a couple issues and was hoping someone could share their thoughts or experiences.
I have rather thick scar tissue build up in one eye (macular pucker) which built up in about the last 5-6 months that I am aware of. Apparently I build scar tissue quite aggressively, hence my question is:
What possible hope do I have after surgery to think that my body won't perceive this Vitrectomy and Macular Peel as a wound and just build up more scar tissue on top of it again ??? When the Docs measure their "success rate", do the low percentage numbers of "scar tissue re-growers" include 6 months or more down the road ???
Also, If they try to suppress the immune system with a steroid implant during surgery, isn't it still likely that scar tissue will form again after that wears off ??? Should the patient be changing their diet and supplements in some way shape or form after surgery so as not to boost their immune system and work against the intended process ?
Are my questions warranted, and if so why hasn't my Retina Specialists mentioned any of this with my surgery being scheduled only a few days from now and no more visits before that.
I just don't want to be jumping into this whole surgery thing if it is such a long shot.
Could I also ask about the chances of my eyes not working well together after the surgery ? (like double vision)
Thank You anyone and everyone who has thoughts on this.
