No. I would suggest you do a search on this forum about high myopia - you will find a lot of useful information. Pathological myopia is a diagnosis based on pathologies at the back of the eye and should be made by a highly qualified eye MD. Be sure you have been examined and ask your ophthalmologist about your concerns. High myopia is not uncommon, while pathological myopia is more rare. It is highly variable from patient to patient; meaning that a -6 myope could have pathological myopia, while a -12 myope might have a normal healthy retina. The internet cannot give you a diagnosis - you need to be examined.
Out of curiosity, how high is your myopia?
hi.mine is -12 and -4.5 and my son is -12 both eyes. till now I do not have any problems I ask mostly for my son
How old are you? How old is your son? Has your myopia stabilized? Has his?
My eyes are -12 and -13.5 and have been stable since I was 18-20. I am 31 now and have no problems other than floaters and a PVD.
I am 39 and my son is nearly 6.Yes mine is stable. My son started to use glasses 2 and a half years ago.he increased more or less by 1 D . From when you started to use glasses and how strong it was when you understood it?
I think I was wearing -3 glasses when I was 5 or 6 and moved into RGP contacts at age 11. I don't have any record of what my prescriptions were as I grew, but I know I have long axial lengths and I need regular exams. I have had an exam at least once a year my whole life.
Does your son have congenital high myopia?
that is what I am thinking
hi.Do you think that congenital high myopia progress less than school myopia?
I certainly am no expert, but what I have read about congenital myopia is that it is usually in the order of -10 (this can vary a lot) from birth and does not progress. Make sure he gets regular exams and he should be fine.
