What is "flash" in PVD or RD?

I am a 29 old male with high myopia (-9.25D). I have floaters in my eyes for a long time, but my ophthalmologist says the retina looks fine (a year ago). I recently noticed that sometimes (maybe once a few days) when I am reading or watching computer screen, a small, bright spot would occur in the visual field. It persists for a fraction of a second and disappears. There doesn't seem to be any correlation with head/eye movement, or blinking the eye, and the position where it occurs seems rather random. Some people suggested that it may indicate PVD. I just wonder what the typical "flash" experienced by PVD or RD patients is like. Is it always very bright, like one would see with a camera flash? Or can it be just a tiny bright spot? Does it really "flash", i.e.,goes on and off at some frequency over a period of seconds or minutes? Or does it just appear, stay there, and fade away in a short time?

Yeah. The real scary flash is kind of like camera flash, very sudden, very bright intense light. Can make you jump. Split second duration, though the after image may linger for a bit while.
