The red light is the aiming beam of the yag. If there was pain then some of the applicatins may have been near the iris that has pain fibers. the posterior capsule does not have pain fibers. You need to discuss with your surgeon.

The yag beam was focused on my left eye, but the distortion and pain was in my right eye while the left eye was being treated. My right eye was not being treated at all.
Does that make a difference in your answer?
Thanks very much
It certainly does. I have absolutely no explanation for that.
