You can easily detect serious flashes particularly when your inside a dark room like during night.
Too much computer usage is a strain to eye but you can lessen this by taking appropriate break like 15 minutes for 1 hr work etc.
i wanted to know how noticeable are the flashes (I feel nervous and any little blink or light in front of my eye seems like flashes of light.). i work on computer many hours a day. could that be a burdan on my right eye too>
I told you to prevent all possible minor & major trauma's to your hit eye for the next 3-6 months as it can cause much problem as your internal eye regions have already sustained a serious trauma.
thanks, very encouraging.
yes, that,s what i was thinking if the retina had to detach it would have happened early on after injury not after week or month.
No, you do not have to live in fear for the next several months! ((( hug ))))
Like I said, if your retina was going to "fully" detach from the blow to your eye, it would have done so already. The worst you would have to worry about is developing a tiny hole in your retina, which is easily repaired.
While water skiing, I tore a hole in my retina over 20 years ago (when medical science was not nearly where it is now!) and had the surgical repair done. It is very quick & they do not even have to put you to sleep to do it. The repair has held up very well and I do not have any problems with my eyes (besides nearsightedness, which I wear glasses to correct). And this is from someone who has a genetically weakened retina that can develop holes without a blow to the head! At any given time, my retina could suddenly begin detaching but I do not live in fear. I go to my regular checkups with my retina specialist & I am careful to avoid hard hits to the eye or head. I enjoy every day that I have good vision and make the most of every moment.
I wish I could reassure you more! But please don't live in fear & anxiety - that will just make you sick. I am praying for blissful peace for you.
:-)
3-6 months is observation period, this doesn't mean you should go for checkup continuously, if anything serious happen such as long flashes, curtain etc you should immediately see a good ophthalmologist.
Most important thing you should do is to avoid all kind of pressure applying on eyes ex: any trauma, eye rubbing, poking etc.
No need for any worry you will be OK.
Oh God i am even more anxious than before. so i have to live in another 3-6 month in axienty for not knowing if my eye is ok or not ??
You should keep watching for flashes, increased no of floaters for the next 3 - 6 months. if nothing happened during this period then chances for getting retina detachment from this incident is very less. please keep in mind that probability for getting trauma to eye is very high & as a precaution you should wear safety glasses all the time & avoid all prone activities.
thanks for your answer. i guess to ease my anxiety i will go for a test with eye physician. my last question is after 6 days for this incident if i go for complete test of my eye and all the test are ok. do i still have any chance of retina detachment from this incident. or does it accur when the injury happens or it can occur any time after ?
please reply my question i am still panic about this issue. i am 25 years old and my worst fear is i don,t wanna go blind. thanks
thanks for reply.
i don,t see any flashes of light or dark curtain effects. though i notice seeing floaters in fron of my eye. and i remember since my childhoood i always saw floaters in from of my eye. but now since i am kind of panic. i notice more than usual.though i am still very nervous about going blind. (probably it,s my fear that is causing to see the floaters)
btw i remember that the doctor took pressure test of my eye with a jelly kind of thing on my eye.
please advice me.i am still kind of nervous. it,s almost day fifth after the incident. i dont see any flashes or decrease in the vision.
My brother lost his left eye due to retinal detachment when he was 10 and he's been paranoid about losing his other one ever since (he's 40 now). I certainly understand your concern because when he recently damaged his "good" eye he was in a PANIC!
When you get hit hard on the eye, it can cause the retina to detach. If it is partially detached, you may see flashes of light, spots (floaters), or a dark curtain-like effect where half your vision is fine & the other half is dark. All you need to do is look at a blank white wall for a few seconds, looking up, down, & all around, and if everything seems fine then it probably is!
A partially detached retina can be reattached & vision restored. A fully detached retina will only live for a few hours because it has no blood supply so you would know immediately if it was completely detached because you'd be completely blind. Your retina is very unlikely to fully detach 4 days after the event, especially if you've had no partial-detachment symptoms.
In my family's case we have a genetic disease that causes a weakened retina, so ours will detach much more easily than someone with "normal" eyes. If you have never been diagnosed with a disease like that, and your retina is in good shape (the doctors can tell from all those exams they did) then you probably don't need to worry any more.
I hope that eases your mind, somewhat! :-)
thanks for your reply sir,
but i am still very nervous about something going wrong with my eye.day 4th and i have so far no problem with the vision. but my only worry now is that is there something can go wrong after get hit on the eye some few days or week. even though my eye red colour is seems to be fading and seems to be healing.
1. You should wear safety type glasses all waking hours to protect the eye, avoid activities that have high risk of eye injury and if you must do things like lawnmower or power tools wear safety gogles
2. Have your eye examined yearly by an eye MD ophthalmologist.
3. Leave a healthy live style.
4. As to your present injury do as the eye MD says. If something changes that worries you call them and go in sooner. If everything is fine keep the two week recheck.]

Thank God its 5 days past & nothing terrifying like flashes, curtain appeared in your good eye & hopefully nothing will happen in future.
Relax and wear safety glasses to prevent another one like this.
Safety glasses are big glasses with specially designed frames which will evenly put pressure on skull minimizing trauma effect on eyes.
