Is toric IOL implant really good for cataract patient with low to moderate astigmatism

I have cataract in my left eye; I need cataract surgery pretty soon. Several questions
1. From my last left eye glass prescription when it was good: -150, -175x159 I think it is low to moderate myopia and astigmatism, What model of aspheric toric IOL or monofocal IOL recommend for my eye and what are the targets I am expecting to get after implant? Is toric IOL really out weight monofocal IOL by a large margin?
2. One eye MD mentioned in internet “Patients with low-to-moderate astigmatism require less intervention but greater precision. Because this population does not tolerate overcorrection, a small reduction of cylinder may not be beneficial if it is accompanied by an axis shift, particularly toward against-the-rule. we counsel patients prior to surgery regarding the risk of rotation and prepare for the possibility of a secondary procedure”  My question is what is the percentage of patient implant with  toric IOL out of cataract surgery and what is the percentage of patient need secondary procedure after toric IOL implant? What is the risk of doing secondary procedure?

My Dr. says 1% of his patients need the 2nd procedure.  I didn't ask the percentage of his patients that have Toric.

I'm not an eye care professional, but I suspect that your outcome with a toric lens vs. limbal relaxing incisions would have a lot to do with your surgeon's experience and skills with each option.  In the only (small-scale) study on this topic that I'm aware of, surgical results with an Alcon toric lens were significantly better than those with limbal relaxing incisions when astigmatism was more than 2 D; limbal relaxing incisions worked better with astigmatism less than 1 D.

Recently, I've seen it reported that toric IOLs produce very good results.  I've also read that toric IOLs are currently very popular because many cataract surgery are not adept at performing limbal relaxing incisions.  In any case, I suggest that you consult a board-certified surgeon who is experienced in both cataract and refractive procedures and get his/her recommendations.
