eyes uneven

For the past 8 months or so I have been having recurrent problems with what is maybe blepharitis.  It seems to come in cycles, getting better, and then worse, and then better again, but never fully resolving.  The main symptoms are swollen eyelids (especially in the morning but persisting throughout the day), redness, gritty sensation, and extreme dryness alternating with excessive tearing.  It is very noticeable, when it flares up, people are constantly asking me if I'm OK (they think I am crying).  It has been getting worse again in the past weak or so, and I went to see the opthamologist (again).  I've been using antibiotic eyedrops for the past few days and it may be helping some. (Though I've tried this before when it flared up and it was only ever a temporary fix.)

My newest concern, though, is that my eyes now appear to be noticeably uneven.  Either the top eyelid of my left eye is sagging, or the top eyelid of my right eye is retracted.  My right eye is generally worse affected by the redness and swelling.  Anyway, this unevenness seems to be new, and I admit I am concerned.  Is this to be expected with this kind of problem?  Is there anything I can do about it?  The whole thing is quite disconcerting and

I am 32 years old, and have hypothyroidism.  I also have seasonal allergies, but they do not seem to be correlated with the flare up / improvement pattern of the eye problems.

Thank you

See a different ophthalmologist for a second opinion.  Take in some old photos of yourself taken over the last 5 years, full face that show the position of your eyelids. DO NOT let the technicians put any eyedrops in your eye till the eye MD looks at the lids.

I suspect these are two different problems. The lid is the more concerning. If possible see a neuroophthalmologist. Find one at www.aao.org
