post cataract surgery eye use

I had one eye cataract operated 2 weeks ago and await the next in another two weeks. Four days ago the operated eye was examined and the plastic lens is correctly in place. Meantime when I lift the patch on this operated eye to put drops in,  I have brilliant plano sight and find i can read clearly  through one section of my former graduated spectacle lens while keeping the unoperated eye closed.. Is this bad practice?  Should I stop it? I have no discomfort. I'm 85 and reading is my life.
