iritis

i suffer from iritis.i have been using mydriatics for a year now.sometime afterwards my pupils are dilated and look fine, but sometimes they shrink in size afterwards and look terrible.i have done some research on this and i was wondering if its because im putting too much in?,if you put too much in do they shrink? am i not suppose to be in a bright room for a certain amount of time?
what im asking you is how do i achieve maximum dilation instead of my eyes being small and looking like i am on drugs? its very confusing i have to say that they are supposed to enlarge your pupils yet sometimes they make them much smaller

Well, some mydriatics, i think tropicamide is one of them, may not well if you have very heavily pigmented irides, as some of the drug binds to the melanin of the irides. I would't have expected this to be a big problem if you were using tropicamide 1% though?

Too much of a mydriatic will not cause miosis as far as i know.

Also if your pupils are dilated, i would have thought that would make it look like you were on drugs as cocaine has that effect and im sure was used as a mydriatic back in the day.

You should be under the ongoing care of a Eye MD and hopefully have seen a Uveitis Eye MD in consult. You should be going in frequently every several months to monitor your condition. You should not be treating yourself.

You should direct your questions to the Eye MD that provides your care.
