Retinal detachment Phase 1.0

Hello,
I suffer from myopia and recently notice a lot of flashing in the eyes and floaters.
I visited my doctor and he performed a dilated-pupil test and checked my eyes.
He said that there was a bit of retinal detachment in both eyes and more prominently on the left although it was not a cause to worry due to my myopia ( -3.75D and -4 D). He said that i should just keep in check with him every few months and go to him asap if the flashing is very prominent.
The flashing is very irritating and I cannot concentrate on much of my work.
My question is that can i be saved from going blind later and are there and ways to reduce the rate at which the retina degenerates. Also should I go for a second opinion on this??

Sry Dr. some mistake due to paranoia and google search. The previous doctor diagnosed me with retinal degeneration not detachment!!

He sent me to a retinal specialist and this is the diagnosis:
Both eyes :disc normal, foveal reflex dull, mizuo-like reflective sheen in retina prominent in mid periphery.
No evidence of nightvision/photo aversion difficulties.
No retinal tears
Cause for flashing still unknown?

He told me that there was retinal detachment in both eyes, more prominently in my left eye although my left eye has a lower power than my right eye. He also told me that it wasn't severe and has occurred due to myopia so there is nothing to worry about. He mentioned that i should keep getting my retina checked every time i go in for a regular check-up or for a new prescription.

But the flashes are very irritating and i cant ignore them all the time. I'll see him again today and also find another doc for a second opinion.

I don't know what he means by a bit of retinal detachment.  Please get a second opinion.
