press on prism

I have double vision without glasses and my glasses have press on prisms.  If I look straight ahead, I don't see double, but if I look slightly off straight ahead, say 10 degrees, I do.  Should I expect the prism to correct if I am not looking straight ahead?

My glasses are new and do have the press on prism.  My question is whether the press on prism should only work when I look straight ahead.

Check with your eye doctor.  A press on prism is an inexpensive solution and can serve as a good diagnostic tool.  A true prism in your glasses may be more effective.  If you opt for new lenses, find an optometrist who will (within a specified time) remake lenses if you are not happy.
