removal of multi focal lenses

I am currently almost 7 months post surgery.  I have this constant cloudy vision almost like saran wrap. After seeing 4 doctors that say they can find nothing wrong, such as "secondary cataract".  They are now talking about removing these lenses and going to mono focal lenses because my brain is not working well with the multi focal lenses. Refraction and new set of glasses are the last step they are suggesting before removal of them. I have ordered those glasses which I have not received yet.  The headaches from tired eyes is getting really bad. Am I heading down a dead end street here????????? Vision is 20/50 right 20/30 left but the "fog" is almost unbearable!
Any suggestions?

You should have complete confidence in your surgeon. To undergo a second operation when you are fearful and not have confidence is to invite nothing but anxiety and heartache.

Consider at least one more out side of original practice consult with refractive surgeon. If you live in USA find one near you at www.geteyesmart.org

Be very specific and ask the consultant if you have "waxy vision" if so an IOL exchange is the only treatment that can get rid of it. Going to a monofocal IOL is the choice most people make.

All four are surgeons that I have consulted with. Three in the same practice and one outside of practice. The last consult said I should stick with same surgeon- yikes do not like that idea. I am totally scared of what the outcome of this replacement lenses will be.  Should I just try to live with this vasoline, waxy crap or take my chances?????????????

Thanks for your input!

Is there ANYTHING can be done about this waxy vision short of removal of the lenses?

Thanks for your replies!  I am scared!

I was looking at some of your other posts and answers.  Any consult with a non surgeon optometrist in my book would not count as a consultation. Also you need to see someone other than the original surgeon since you seem to have gotten the run-around from him/her.

If all 4 of the "doctors" you saw were Eye MDs ophthalmologists who do cataract/IOL surgery and they all recommended IOL exchange for monofocal IOL then that is likely the best course of action.  See the surgeon you have the most confidence in.  This sounds like "waxy vision" which can occur with any type of IOL but more common with ReStoR
