scar tissue in the eye

my son had eye surgery when he was 1-3 years old. he was in a car accident and smashed his head on the dash of the car. he had 5 or 6 surgeries to try to reatach his retinas, from all the surgeries he has a lot of scar tissue in both eyes, and he is now completly blind. my son is now 6. is there any way to fix this to where he can see?

In the future he may be able to have special glasses that either stimulate his optic nerves if healthy or in his case possibly his visual cortex of the brain - like on star trek.  There should be a system available in the next 5 -10 - 15 years.  There are several major ongoing projects especially at MIT.  He will see someday, with one of these systems, I believe, but the resoluton will be really low initially.  Do some research on artificial vision or retinal microchip on google.
